so more wtf-ness
okay so I’ve been reading different blogs and articles all night and I got to this crazy sociologist prof from UT-Austin and some of his articles, and I had to stop reading after this one paragraph and share it asap because my mind is just blown that this dude is able to think so faulty and is paid for thinking and his mind/thoughts. GAAHH
“Sex is Cheap: Why young men have the upper hand in bed, even when they’re failing in life” (i know red flags already, but it’s too tempting to read the possible rage inducing crazy, it’s like a very hot plate)
To better understand what’s going on, it’s worth a crash course in “sexual economics,” an approach best articulated by social psychologists Roy Baumeister and Kathleen Vohs. As Baumeister, Vohs, and others have repeatedly shown, on average, men want sex more than women do. Call it sexist, call it whatever you want—the evidence shows it’s true. In one frequently cited study, attractive young researchers separately approached opposite-sex strangers on Florida State University’s campus and proposed casual sex. Three-quarters of the men were game, but not one woman said yes. I know: Women love sex too. But research like this consistently demonstrates that men have a greater and far less discriminating appetite for it. As Baumeister and Vohs note, sex in consensual relationships therefore commences only when women decide it does.
what the actual fuck?!?! before I even decide if I’m going to keep reading, I cannot believe that study is cited by anyone who is in the academic field at the graduate level or higher!!! So hmmm this study totally ignores the large institutions and strutures in our society that tell women to be chaste and oh not to talk to strangers!! and that men are so sex crazy they’ll probably rape you because they can’t help it!!! and the huge slut-shaming culture.
So yah I bet no woman would say yes to a random stranger coming up to them and asking if they wanted to have a go. I’d be like dude I’m fucking sitting here and may have many reasons why I don’t want to have sex with you, many of them gasp don’t even consider you at all, I’m going to just give you a firm no thanks and hope you stop wasting my time and space. If you want to study sexual desire in men and women how about you fucking ask them how often they get horny/desire sex!! jeez me and my crazy radical ideas.
UT-Austin employs this dude? well I guess my view that it was a big liberal school needs to be re-examined (though admittedly I haven’t paid much attention to that school at all, except I know my Uni has a joint mass media quarterly with them… that’s about it)
And what the heck, at thus in relationships the sex only occurs when the women decide! hahahaha like it can’t go both ways? sometimes guys aren’t up for it either, we all get tired or sick. And news flash also plenty of women love sex just as men do, as all humans and animals do, so i’m calling shenanigans on this whole view of human sexuality, total bull shit!
